Miranda Jones

I am a trainee Integrative Arts Psychotherapist in my qualifying year. I am an Artist, as well as Arts and Well-being facilitator, with many years of experience. On this page you can find more details about how I work creatively. But I am also comfortable simply talking and listening, attuning to your needs.

I work collaboratively, building an approach that fosters safety and exploration. I can offer short or long-term contracts. My way of working is person-centred, mindful and trauma informed. We can meet online or in person, indoors or outside. I aim to work at the pace that suits you. I am alongside you as you develop your inner resources, supporting you through your process of enquiry and change.

Why Creative Psychotherapy?

    The Arts as a gateway

The Arts can allow us to make discoveries about ourselves, getting to know ourselves on a deeper level, freeing us from limiting ways of being. I believe that everyone has the ability to be creative, even if they don't see themselves as an "arty" person.

    When it's difficult to talk

The arts are a safe way to explore emotions which might be too difficult to express in words. They open up the possibility of processing painful experiences, such as trauma, in a careful and contained way. We can use the arts to build our inner resources and resilience.

    Creativity, Play and Mindfulness

Playfulness, imagination and creativity are natural signs of health. Creative therapy can help us to reconnect with this vital part of ourselves and develop our capacity to be present in the moment. Therapy can be hard work but it is also possible for it to be fun!

My Approach

I work with a wide range of creative methods- including visual art, nature-based arts, digital arts, sand tray, clay, movement, bodywork, music, drama, puppets and poetry. I am equally happy to suggest creative experiments as I am to be guided by your own interests. Our work can include body-mind practices such as breathing, grounding and meditation.

People turn to therapy for a variety of reasons, but usually when they are experiencing distress. I believe that the therapeutic relationship can provide an effective way to deal with mental health challenges. It can also go beyond this to support people to grow and thrive. Therapy helps simply to maintain our well-being in a challenging world. It can be part of a journey of self-discovery, to support us through life transitions and on our creative and spiritual path.

Get In Touch

Successful psychotherapy is all about building a relationship. We can have a conversation, by phone or video call, to see if we are suited to working together. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
